Making Sense of Vertebral Subluxation
The class will cover the physiology, neurology, and theoretical concepts of a vertebral subluxation. The learning objective is for attendees to understand the current scientific, philosophical, and historical issues of vertebral subluxation. The class will cover the evolution of vertebral subluxation in the chiropractic profession, the different concepts of vertebral subluxation, a review of basic biomechanics and neurology, and will categorize the components of subluxation. The presentation will conclude by looking at current published research in subluxation and a discussion of the discourse happening today in the profession concerning subluxation.

Speakers

DAN DAVIDSON, DC
Dan Davidson graduated magna cum laude from Palmer College of Chiropractic in 1984. He founded the Back Resort And Functional Health Therapy clinic in Salem Virginia (1985) which integrates rehab posture, motion orthotic therapy, stress balancing, massage therapy and nutrition counseling. Dr. Davidson has developed a workshop, “Lost Vagus Nerve” Function – Stress Balancing And Brain Gut Wellness with a podcast launch in the fall 2022. He has been voted by other health professionals as Top Doc Chiropractor numerous times in his region. As a second generation chiropractor, he shares the chiropractic health message as an author, podcaster, musician and speaker.

BRICE JACKSON, DC, FACFN, FABBIR
Brice Jackson, DC, FACFN, FABBIR, is a 2006 Life University graduate and Fellow of both the American College of Functional Neurology and the American Board of Brain Injury Rehabilitation. In private practice since 2006, he treats children and adults with neurological conditions including autism, ADHD, concussion, migraines, dizziness, and vertigo, and his team provides occupational therapy for the Virginia Institute on Autism. Dr. Jackson has lectured widely on functional neurology and is active in numerous professional and community organizations. Outside of practice, he enjoys time with his four children, reading, hiking, and playing Ultimate disc golf in Central Virginia.

DANIEL LANE, BA (Adv), BS, DC, CCEP, DACNB, FABBIR, FABVR
Dr. Daniel Lane earned his Doctorate in Chiropractic with honors from Logan College and holds an Advanced B.A. from the University of Manitoba. A board-certified Functional Neurologist, he specializes in traumatic brain injury, concussion, vestibular conditions, and neurological rehabilitation, with additional certifications in sports chiropractic, soft tissue therapies, laser therapy, and fibromyalgia. He has lectured widely for hospitals, medical organizations, and professional associations, and is active in the Maryland Chiropractic Association. Passionate about learning, Dr. Lane is pursuing further post-doctoral studies while enjoying family life, outdoor activities, and fitness, drawing on his background as a competitive bodybuilder.

ERIC G. RUSSELL, DC, MBA, FPHC
Eric G. Russell, DC, earned his chiropractic degree from Palmer College in 1996 and is the owner of Purely Chiropractic in Asheville, NC, as well as a consultant for LevelUp Mentoring. He made history as the first Diplomate of Philosophical Chiropractic Standards (DPhCS) to serve as president of a chiropractic college, leading the New Zealand College of Chiropractic. Named a Fellow in Chiropractic Philosophy in 2023, Dr. Russell has received numerous honors, including induction into Palmer’s Great Hall of Philosophers and Hall of Presidents. He is dedicated to inspiring chiropractors in the philosophy, science, and art of chiropractic.
RICK SCHMITT, DC
Dr. Schmitt, a graduate of New York Community College (1979) and New York Chiropractic College (1982, 1989), brings over 40 years of expertise to the field. He holds advanced certifications in Spinal Disability Evaluation, Impairment Rating, and the Master’s Certification from the Spine Research Institute of San Diego. A past President of the Maryland Chiropractic Association Executive Board, he is also Board Certified by the Academy of Applied Spinal Biomechanical Engineering. Dr. Schmitt has lectured extensively on whiplash and motor vehicle collisions, served as an expert witness in multiple courts, and remains active in national professional associations.
