What do you enjoy most or what were your most rewarding experiences involving your work in chiropractic?
One of my first most rewarding experiences involving my work in chiropractic was applying an extremities technique I learned during a weekend seminar, then applying it in practice the following week, and seeing the reaction of the patient when it provided real relief. The more seminars I attended, and most times, being the only person of color, I learned that not only did I have to get good at what I was doing really quickly, but I also conveyed a quiet spirit of confidence that whispered I can help this person. I know I can, and I have. No one in my family is a Chiropractor. When I was a student, people I knew and family members only went to Chiropractors as most people do: maybe a last resort or a motor vehicle accident. But now actually becoming the person that provides that same care, knowledge, treatment, and attention, without giving medicine; I am the person, no longer whispering a quiet confidence, but displaying in my actions, my technique, and the pride I have for my profession. I genuinely love what I do. I love the reactions on peoples faces after an adjustment and I enjoy the people I work with. I have been the Assistant Clinical Director and Associate Doctor of Dunkirk Chiropractic, working with past Maryland Chiropractic Association President, Michael Fedorczyk, DC. He has been a mentor and a friend and I am grateful.
Provide a brief description of your practice areas:
One of the first practices I worked as a Chiropractor, was a practice that specialized in nutrition, using acupressure in conjunction with weight loss. Next I cut my chops in personal injury. I went office to office doing my own marketing. Trying to see the attorneys, but first fighting to get past the office manager or front desk (preferably without bringing some food) for a time slot and the attorney’s undivided attention. Next I worked in a family practice that dealt with almost everything (excluding pets) that walked in. With the mantra that everything could be adjusted, I was encouraged to adjust all things “that had an atlas”. Then being the inner athlete, but never getting to compete, I developed an interest in extremities, and have been actively pursuing a certificate in upper and lower extremities adjusting.
Outside of chiropractic, tell us something fun or interesting about yourself:
I am a classically trained musician. My first instrument is the piano. I have been playing since grade school. In high school, I became a percussionist and played a variety of mallet instruments. The second instrument I learned to play was the drums, and originally went to college on a music scholarship playing both the piano and drums at a small school in Portland, Oregon. Now I play regularly for my church in Newberg, Maryland. I am also a keyboard player and singer in a local gospel group, A Chosen Few. I also enjoy playing at any holiday gatherings or opportunities to play an open piano. I am an active member of one of the first and oldest Black female sororities, Alpha Kappa Alpha, Incorporated, Nu Zeta Omega Chapter in Charles County, Maryland. Finally, I married my husband on January second of this year, 2026.
